Marko from Big Village in Banat region has 100 hives that he cares about. He is trying to improve his family finances not going the way many have gone before him - Into the big city in pursuit of “happiness’. Marko is the first Beekeeper in his family, and he started this business 11 years ago. Back then, he was the first Beekeeper in the village, and now there are more than 30. You can live from the honey “ if somebody is worth it”, Marko added, and sometimes that means to start your work day at 5am, and not finish until midnight, working around the hives, at the estate, in pitch black or during the thirst in mid summer. He believes that Beekeepers and honey are needed in Serbia, not only because of potentially large exports, but because of the health of the nation, and keeping the people from migrating from village to city, Big Village, July 2017.
